Tisha B’Av – turning darkness into light
OWN CORRESPONDENT
The aim of the campaign was to bring an awareness of the nine days of mourning – the darkest time in Jewish history – and express that everyone has the power to turn the darkness into light with acts of love and kindness.
Each learner at King David Schools was given a sheet of stickers with statements such as: “You inspire me”, “I appreciate you”, “You’re a true friend” and “Thank you”.
The objective was to reach out to someone each day, in a tangible way, to compliment or acknowledge him or her.
Learners were encouraged not only to give stickers to friends, but to broaden horizons and give them to new friends, teachers, colleagues and significant people in their lives.
Pupils of all ages were adorned in these colourful stickers, helping to make them feel special.
The King David learners were able to appreciate that the benefits of simple acts of kindness are powerful and immediate.
