Wanderers Warriors have received an invitation for this under-11 team to play against the under-11 team of the world famous Bayern Munich Football Club in Germany, as well as in the leading youth soccer tournament in Kitzbuhel, Austria’s Cordial Cup.
The participants in the Cordial Cup are the youth teams of only famous professional international football clubs and a small handful of clubs which win a qualification tournament in Europe. In fact, Wanderers Warriors is playing Bayer Leverkusen in the group stage. Three out of 48 places are kept available for “wild card” entries for teams from around the world and the under-11 team from South Africa, because they were doing so well, were lucky enough to receive one of these invitations – as they did last year as well.
Because this is the highest standard of youth football in the world, the team from South Africa has to adhere to the highest international standard and the youngsters have been training furiously since the beginning of the year.
The team is highly talented and truly reflective of the demographics of the country.
Chloé’s coach, Herold Matodzi, has high hopes for her and is very proud of her respected and earned position in the team.
Jayden Smith from King David Sandton, an excellent goalkeeper, also plays in the tournament.
