Jewish kid wins Wimbledon Junior title

Kozlov is one of the brightest prospects on the Junior Tennis circuit. He was born in Macedonia but is now a citizen of the US and represents that country.

Rubin hails from Long Island, New York and attends the John McEnroe Academy. He has had some successes in recent tournaments, including winning the Copa Del Cafe 2012 event in January and reaching back-to-back semifinals in April at the International Spring Championships and the Easter Bowl Championships.

Wimbledon, however, is another level. It is the most coveted prize in world tennis, even at junior level and this will do wonders for him and his future progress.

Rubin’s parents have fed him on a tennis diet from a very young age. He loves the game and wants to go as far as he can. Even at his barmitzvah, his theme was tennis, though ironically he says: “I didn’t invite one tennis player,” preferring to keep it to his friends from the neighbourhood.

Roger Federer began his early career with the Wimbledon Junior title. Many eyebrows were raised this last week in anticipation of a new kid on the block. American, Jewish and a player with a bright and brilliant future, Noah Rubin.
