Bringing warmth to the elderly

OWN CORRESPONDENT

The JWBS has started an initiative called Benevolent Care, which aims to provide 500 elderly and indigent people with a winter warmers package to keep them warm and boost their morale.

Each one of its beneficiaries will receive a new spencer, vests, slippers, socks, a scarf, pyjamas, underwear and a blanket. They are residents of Sandringham Gardens, the Selwyn Segal, the Lodge and the Square, clients of the Union of Jewish Women Kosher Mobile Meals programme, and others who depend on the Chevrah Kadisha but live outside of Sandringham Gardens.

For the initiative to succeed, the JWBS needs to raise R400 000. To date, it has raised R350 000, but needs to raise the full amount for every person to receive a package. Please assist the JWBS to let the warmth in for the most vulnerable in our community: the elderly and indigent.

  • Donations can be made via the website: www.jwbs.co.za or via eft: JWBS, Nedbank, Siemert Road branch, account no: 192 300 5359, reference: your name + CARE.
