DL Link is ChaiFM’s Radiothon winner
OWN CORRESPONDENT
The station announced the winner on its breakfast show, Morning Mayhem, last week Monday.
ChaiFM says in a media release the voting process, which took place over a six-week period, had been divided into two different rounds. In round one of the nomination process, listeners were asked to nominate their charity to be entered into a final vote between the top three finalists. Over three weeks, from July 24, the station received thousands of SMS nominations for the 2014 Radiothon, from communities nominating their charity of choice.
The second and final stage of the nomination process took place online where listeners were asked to vote for their winner out of the top three finalists by filling in an online survey. The winner with the highest percentage of the votes won the radiothon.
The DL Link got 47,9 per cent of the vote. The NSPCA received 36,04 per cent and the Little Fighters Cancer Trust received 16,04 per cent.
Kathy Kaler, 101.9 ChaiFM’s CEO, commented: “We’ve seen an unprecedented amount of participation leading up to the announcement of the winner. It’s wonderful to know that there are so many worthy causes that our listeners have brought to our attention. In the end there were three very worthy causes. Ultimately the charities’ stakeholders decided who the winner was.”
Michelle Goodman, founder of the DL Link, was delighted by the outcome, saying “the DL Link can now focus on renovating and expanding our current centre and upgrading our infrastructure, creating an even better warm and loving space for our patients and their families and making their journeys just that much easier”.
