She has a BA and honours degree in clinical psychology from Wits University and a Masters in Journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago.
After a year at CNN in New York City, she began her career as a print journalist, covering financial markets for Bridge News, and later as a business news reporter for the New York bureau of London’s Financial Times.
Upon moving to Toronto, Canada, she served as editor of a Jewish philanthropy magazine called Lifestyles for several years until her daughter was born. She was then appointed executive director of the Toronto Chapter of Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University.
In 2012, she was recruited by Herzlia Schools in Cape Town to become director of their Foundation and Alumni Association, a position which happily brought her back to South Africa.
After a successful few years of fundraising and development work, Vanessa is happy to be returning to work as a journalist and editor in the community in which she grew up. She looks forward to building on the great work of her predecessor, Geoff Sifrin.

‘Welcome to the fold Did you know how many non Jews are interested in our religion? Also the survival of the Torah Centre in Yeoville is worth a mention with its daily minyonim despite overwhelming odds any a tiny remaining Jewmish neucleus’
