BDS’ ‘arrest warrant’ statement pure hogwash

He told Jewish Report on Tuesday that he had been inundated with media calls, that he has consulted extensively with all of the Hawks’ units, and that he would like to go on record to say: “The DCPI (Hawks) would like to distance themselves from such malicious gossip.”

This follows the four Israeli commanders’ involvement in the 2010 Israeli attacks on the Mavi Marmara aid ship.

A four-year-long case involving a South African journalist, Gadija Davids, who was on board the Mavi Marmara when it was attacked, created the furore.

Davids laid her first complaint with the South African Police Services and South Africa’s National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) in January 2011.  

 

BDS then issued a “clarification” and an apology “for the misunderstanding” later on Tuesday, admitting that “the warrants of arrest against the four Israeli commanders were issued by Turkish authorities not by the South Africa’s Directorate of the Priority Crimes Investigation Unit”.

The BDS “clarification” added: “South African authorities have confirmed in writing to Ms Davids that they have received the Turkish warrants of arrest against the Israeli commanders and have accordingly circulated the suspects on the South African Border Control system on September 3, 2015”.
