She is a specialist educator with a strong remedial teaching background and is on the cutting edge of educational innovations.
This dynamic educator, who brings a fresh injection of experience and energy, is sure to enhance the already well-established teaching staff of the school.
Upiter Beer says: “Education isn’t about what we do at Mina Lopato, it’s about what we believe. As the principal of this diverse, open-minded school, I get to be a part of a school that believes in children, in their right to have opportunities to develop their truest potential.”
She believes in the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment, based on the interests of the children.
The school offers up-to-date pedagogy, using Reggio and holistic educational approaches, mindfulness teaching, Feuerstein methods, as well as specialist input from psychologists, occupational therapists and speech therapists.
The school’s Jewish education programme is run by Adina Roth, a Jewish education specialist and clinical psychologist. Her programme is universalist, inclusive and humanist and allows every child from whatever religious background, to benefit and learn spiritually.
Mina Lopato’s five classes lead into the large shul hall which houses a “Geppetto’s World” custom-designed play area, with a state-of-the-art library and soon also an occupational therapy station.
There are also two gardens with creatively designed play areas. Mina Lopato and Greenside Shul enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship and celebrate all Jewish holidays under the spiritual guidance of Rabbi Mendel Rabinowitz.
