Despite the widely reported “summons” to meet the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation this morning, the minister’s spokesman, Clayson Monyela, told the SAJR today that the meeting was purely in the course of normal diplomatic discussions. “There was never an intention to publicise this meeting,” said Monyela. There were no big issues on the table he said.
Ambassador Lenk confirmed that fact this afternoon, slipping the SA Jewish Report in between six media interviews over two hours. “The truth is that my job is to speak to all South Africans at all levels and to explain why it is in everyone’s best interests that Hamas stops firing missiles,” said Lenk.
