Angels bringing wheelchairs and eye gaze systems

Angels clearly come in different guises and with different vehicles. Last year, the Angel Network – under the leadership of Glynne Wolman – contacted Forest Town School to find out if they had any major needs.

Forest Town – which caters for children with disabilities – said they really needed four motorised wheelchairs and an eye gaze system for five of their pupils.

Although the school has motorised wheelchairs for their pupils to use at school, they couldn’t take them home. As for the eye gaze system, it would enable a child to control a computer using their eyes. All these tools would help the five recipients to be more independent and more involved in the classroom.

Cell C – in partnership with the Angel Network – made it happen. They organised a huge fundraiser to raise the R150 000 needed for these items.

On February 7, they were handed over to the children at a ceremony attended by Miss South Africa and representatives from the Angel Network and Cell C.
