Another Jewish matric star shines through
ANT KATZ
Guy’s 3 mantras
Guy Elad matriculated from Crawford College with seven distinctions in spite of being diagnosed with attention deficit disorder at the age of five, spending over half his 12-year scholastic period outside of a mainstream school.
He intends pursuing a career as an actuary. His results show why: Guy’s seven distinctions consisted of:
- MATHS: 100 per cent;
- ADVANCED MATHS: over 90 per cent;
- PHYSICAL SCIENCE: over 90 per cent;
- LIFE ORIENTATION: over 90 per cent;
- ACCOUNTANCY: over 90 per cent;
- GEOGRAPHY: over 80 per cent; and
- IT: over 80 per cent.
RIGHT: Guy rose above his ADD to get
7 distinctions
Guy was initially placed at Crossroads School, until high school,
which caters for bright children who have a learning challenge.
After seven years there he moved to Crawford College where he completed his high school. He received full academic colours in grades 10 and 11 and earned special awards for geography, maths and advanced maths in grade 12.
Guy lives by three matras:
- If you can dream it, you can do it;
- Don’t give up and always try harder; and
- Your success is your greatest asset.
Mazeltov, Guy.
