Benevolent’s poker fundraiser hits another high note
At the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society’s poker evening held at the Wanderer’s Club in Johannesburg on Sunday November 13, the winner was definitely the Chai Education Fund of the JWBS, which has been in existence for 123 years.

The theme of the evening was “Our Children are Our Future”. With numerous re-buys throughout the evening, no-one actually won any money, but everyone was a winner, knowing that they were making a contribution to disadvantaged learners who depend on the Benevolent to further their education.
This highly successful event was run by a dedicated group of Benevolent volunteers led by Leigh Brouze.
More than 100 players enjoyed an evening of fun, great food and even some royal flushes! There was a remarkable atmosphere and positive responses came from the many players.
Cathy-Jo Wein was a most exuberant and excellent programme director.
