Don’t equate Tel Aviv with ‘best gay city’
Tel Aviv was notoriously highlighted around the world last week for hosting its annual gay pride parade. Frighteningly, Tel Aviv has now been rated by some as “the best gay city in the world” to host such a parade. Many are even calling it the new gay capital of the world.

When one thinks of the Holy Land, one should be inspired by the history of our people, the history of many civilisations and (monotheistic) religions – Judaism, Islam and Christianity- that inhabited the land, our holy and religious sites and the wars our people fought to secure a Jewish state in the Promised Land that was promised to the Jewish people.
Our great King David held parades in honour of and as a demonstration of his love and awe of Hashem. Tens of thousands of our people paraded and danced ahead and behind the Holy Ark when it was brought into Jerusalem.
If you are gay and proud of it, keep it to yourself. No one cares. People don’t hold parades because they are proud of being heterosexual.
At least, let’s have the respect and sensitivity to honour the Holy Land and the Jewish laws that should define it.
