FAITH & PAIN: South Africans in the crosshairs Rabbi Doron Perez and Hostage Aviva Siegel

On 7 October Aviva Siegel from Randfontein was kidnapped at gunpoint from Kibbutz Kfar Aza and taken hostage by Hamas to Gaza. Her husband Keith is still being held captive in the tunnels beneath Gaza.

Rabbi Doron (Laurence) Perez was one of South Africa’s most respected rabbis. As the fateful day of 7 October ended, he had one injured son and one missing. Based on intelligence reports in May 2024 the IDF declared Daniel Perez dead. His parents buried his blood stained clothes, his body is still held by Hamas in Gaza.
