Fed, Board, condemn Tel Aviv terror attack

The SA Zionist Federation and SA Jewish Board of Deputies have called this morning for “all South Africans to condemn in the strongest possible terms” the terror attack in Tel Aviv on Thursday night – see news report of Israel’s counteraction. “Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with the families of those murdered,” say the two organisations.

The SA Zionist Federation (SAZF) and SA Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Tel Aviv last night Wednesday, June 8.  The attack by armed men took place at a popular shopping area near a children’s playground. This act of violence resulted in the deaths of four innocent civilians and left eleven injured.

“No country is immune from terror,” said the joint statement by the Fed and Board this morning. “We also express our wishes for the recovery of the wounded.”

They add, however, that this “horrendous act highlights the reality that such terrifying atrocities are regularly committed against Israelis”.

The communal organisations say that they are particularly disturbed by the fact “that extremist groups such as Hamas celebrated the attack yesterday evening, by handing out sweets to children”.

It is this “glorification of terrorism” that, say the Apex Jewish organisations, creates a new generation “educated against peace”.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon condemned the attacks. In a statement issued he noted: “There is no justification for terrorism nor for the glorification of those who commit such heinous acts,” Ban added that he was shocked that the leaders of Hamas have chosen to welcome this attack and some to celebrate it.

‘Mr Lieberman has the matter in hand. The families of the terrorists have lost their jobs as well as entry visa’s to Israel. In addition, 83000 palestinians will not be able to go to the temple mount during ramadan.

Europe has had a taste of what the Israeli’s have to put up with and now understand terrorism. Hence their condemnation of this attack.’

‘Did our lovely ANC government join the free world in condemning this murder of Jews, or (being friends of Hamas) do they silently approve?
