Lifestyle/Community
From top to bottom
MICHAEL SIEFF
It was a busy week. Our Biennial General Meeting for the Chev and all NGOs under its umbrella was held on Wednesday November 5 and there was a lot of work to be done in preparation.
Holding these meetings every two years is a constitutional obligation and entails the presentation of audited financials for the preceding years; the election of the board of governors; the appointment of auditors for the following two years and other essential issues along those lines.
If there are any important matters that need attention, like constitutional changes, a special general meeting is held simultaneously to address them.
The Biennial General Meeting is Corporate Governance at its highest level, whereas arranging a new parking spot for a resident might, quite reasonably, be seen as being at the lowest. Although not, of course, to her. And that’s the point. Being compliant with the latest legislature and most essential requisites means we are sanctioned to serve our community at all levels – from the top to the bottom, and everywhere in between.
And that’s what we do. The Chev, through the innumerable services, structures, procedures and support systems that are designed to help, is officially licenced to provide safety and protection to vulnerable children, statutory intervention when people are a danger to themselves or others, healthcare, protected employment and skills training, burial and emergency services, counselling for all kinds of emotional challenges and so much more.
That’s why it was important to resolve the parking problem.
May our partnership continue to thrive!
