Grade Rs learn about careers
OWN CORRESPONDENT
When asked: “What does your mom or dad do?” most of the answers received were an innocent: “They go to work”, with not much knowledge on what that work entailed.
In an effort to teach children about developing their unique identity; as well as appreciate and understand the other roles their parents play in addition to being mom or dad, each child was asked what they would like to be when they grow up and why they wanted to be that.
These lessons were aimed at consciously exposing the children to careers that lay outside their own experience.
