Graduation day for special learners a festive occasion
Graduations are exciting but the festive atmosphere at the graduation ceremony held on November 3 at Golden Acres home for the aged in Johannesburg, was particularly meaningful.

The 43 graduates were members of the Chev’s Protected Employment programme who had completed a year-long course sponsored by Boston City Campus.
The course, “Call Centre Support”, was designed for individuals who have difficulty finding work on the open labour market. For some it was an opportunity to refine their skills for job seeking and for others, a chance to show their families and friends what they can achieve.
It was an intensive process requiring the learners to attend classes twice a week in the training room at Our Parents Home and to complete assignments and work tasks on a wide range of relevant subjects.
They were even given the opportunity to work in the call centres at Kadimah and the Chev, processing both inbound and outbound telephone calls.
The senior project manager was Boston’s Charlot Breger and both Chevrah Kadisha CEO Michael Sieff and Boston City Campus CEO Ari Katz addressed the audience of 200. Certificates were handed out and lunch was served after the formalities.
