The SA Jewish Board of Deputies posted on their Facebook page and tweeted that they were “aware of ammunition and Nazi flags found during a raid on a flat in Cape Town.

“We have been in contact with the police involved in the case who have assured us that there is no threat to the community,” said the Board.

Among the stash found following a tip-off, said police captain FC van Wyk, were two firearms with silencers, a telescope, and boxes of ammunition for various calibres of weapons.

The ammunition was for firearms including R1 and R5 rifles and 9mm and .45 handguns. Military gear, training and reloading equipment was also confiscated, as were Nazi flags and other Nazi memorabilia.

Congratulations from the Board

“We congratulate SAPS on this successful operation and will continue to liaise with them and update our community,” said the Board in their statement posted today.

The million dollar question on everyone’s lips, however, must be why the Nazi flags and memorabilia?

There are not known neo-Nazi groups active in South Africa, but the Capetonian anti-Israel lobby is known to have used symbols like this before – most recently and prominently at the #RhodesMustFall campaign at UCT earlier this year when Swastikas were all over the place.

    ‘Surely you mean #RhodesMustFall
    \n
\n& my understanding of the incident at UCT, with the swastikas that were briefly put up on campus and quickly taken down by SAUJS, is that it was not a malevolent act but rather a point that students were trying to make but that was done in poor taste
    \n
\nI am unaware of any other time swastikas were displayed on campus – if you know of them being shown in marches/ at rallies then please provide proof

\nOur bad – yes we meant mean #RhodesMustFall.

\nRegarding prior Hitler/Nazi usage, here are a few that come to mind:\n

    \n
\nANC okay with staffer posting Hitler hate speech

    \n

“I love Hitler” says Wits SRC president

    \n

ANC issues ‘venomous and insulting statement’ on Holocaust

‘JP, You are hallucinating. Hitler unfortunately was also a bad joke and if he were alive would also probably say \”it wasn’t meant to be malevolent\”.  Another point in poor taste is that Hendrik Verwoerd governed better than Jacob Zuma. Or the Nats were more honest than the ANC.

Is that funny? The point I am trying to make is that the Nazi flag is offensive to Jews, and people like Mncebo Dlamini, at Wits , who loves Hitler, must know that he and the ANC are devoid of morality and decency. They are also devoid of intellect. Perhaps apartheid never happened either, considering the ANC’s statement on the holocaust. I trust that in the light of ANC manure, that SAJR will not censor my statement.’

    ‘Dear Nat

I agree with you re Wits & others but I was talking of a particular incident at UCT where I believe it was due to ignorance and poor, poor taste rather than anti-semitic sentiment.

    Regards

‘JP. You sound like a reasonable person. However, University students that are ignorant have no place in tertiary institutions. There is a problem in this country.

Ignorance seems to be endemic, and I have no time for ignorant people.

Poor taste includes cosying up to Hamas and praising Hitler. Quite frankly, I wish for an opportunity t o baseball bat people like that. And the next time BDS protests at Woolies, they should pray to Allah and their ancestors that I am not around because those in my way are going to need new ID pictures in their books.

75% of university students today should not be there because they do not have the intellect required of a discipline. Most graduates today, are also vacant and devoid of any proper education. Hence the \” ignorance \” that you so glibly and freely quote.

Bottom line is ; these are idiots who in the real world will not survive.
