The tenth Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) was officially launched in South Africa this week after being delayed by five days by the late international launch of the US-based NGO Boycott, divest and sanction Israel (BDS).
“At a global level, a 25-member IAW International Coordinating Committee is responsible for organising IAW activities across different regions of the world,” says the BDS website. “In South Africa, the IAW South Africa Team, of which BDS South Africa is a member, is constituted of representatives from various South African organisations and universities.”
Sixteen cities have already signed up to host IAW activities between 10 and 16 March, says BDS-SA. These are: Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Orange Farm, Port Elizabeth, Soweto, Mitchells Plain, Pretoria, Grahamstown, Port Shepstone, Stellenbosch, Pietermaritzburg, Benoni, Soweto, Fleurhof and Aliwal North.
