Last Thursday, as the world was reading about Alice Munro, the Canadian recipient of the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature, an IDF tweet reportedly moved the oil market.

The tweet was real enough – it was just forty years later on.

“#YomKippur73” – calling her/himself the IDF “SpokesModel” – tweeted that the Israel Defence Forces had bombarded airports in Syria to prevent weapons from landing in the country.

This tweet reportedly caused oil prices to increase $1.40 a barrel. The price opened at $101.61 a barrel in morning trade and closed at $103.01. The tweet would have been true forty years earlier.

It referred to the action during the Yom Kippur War of October 1973!
