ISIS in South Africa

ISIS has arrived in South Africa – on 23 July, police raided a smallholding in Kliprivier outside Johannesburg.

Five suspected ISIS terrorists were arrested. Police seized AK-47 assault rifles, ISIS flags, and video training material to plan attacks. The guns and vehicle seized in the raid appear to link this ISIS cell to the New Year’s Eve shootings in Melville and Mary Fitzgerald Square, and to the attack on a mosque in Verulum near Durban in 2018.
