Israeli embassy issues official statement
Israel’s embassy in Pretoria opens a book of condolence and invites DIRCO and foreign diplomats to sign.

“The Embassy of the State of Israel presents its compliments to the Department of International Relations and Co-operation, to all foreign missions and international organisations accredited to the Republic of South Africa and has the honour to inform them, with sorrow and regret, that Mr Shimon Peres, 9th President of the State of Israel passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.”
With those sombre words, the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria advised the South African Government and those of all other countries with diplomatic missions in Pretoria, of the passing of Shimon Peres.
The Embassy of Israel also opened a book of condolences yesterday at their offices at 428 King’s Highway, Lynnwood, Pretoria.
The book will also be available to be signed, as follows:
- Thursday, September 29, from 14:00 – 16:00
- Friday, September 30, from 11:30 – 13:00
Furthermore, “the Embassy of the State of Israel avails itself of this opportunity to renew the Department of International Relations and Co-operation, all foreign missions and international organisations accredited to the Republic of South Africa the assurance of its highest consideration,” wrote the Embassy.
