Jewish Report should not have published letter on Elie Wiesel

It is understandable that the Jewish Report, a reputable newspaper, allows freedom of speech but frankly the inane letter from Avner Eliyahu Romm condemning Elie Wiesel, is not worthy of publication.

That Elie Wiesel was truly a remarkable saint is not in dispute.

To quote Lord Jonathan Sacks: “Elie Wiesel gave voice to the voiceless victims of the Holocaust and bore witness in the name of humanity to one of the great crimes against it. His was the voice of memory when others sought to forget, and of defiant hope in the face of despair.

“He spoke for an entire murdered generation, and did so with dignity, humanity and grace. He was a great survivor, a great Jew, and a great humanitarian. His work was a blessing; so may his memory be.”

To have someone such as Romm denigrate and attack the memory of an extraordinary humanitarian such as the late Elie Wiesel, is, with respect, outrageous sacrilege
