Join Israel at a unique event next week

The dedication ceremony will be held in the embassy compound in Pretoria. “We encourage all members of the Jewish community to attend this very significant event,” Deputy Ambassador Michael Freeman told Jewish Report.

Construction of the memorial began last month and it features the names of each of the 87 South Africans. It will be officially dedicated on Yom Hazikaron.

The event is on Wednesday, May 11 at 09:30 for 10:00. There is no charge but booking is essential for security reasons.

Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein, the heads of the SAJBD and the SAZF will be attending, as well as other members of the Jewish communal leadership.

Freeman told Jewish Report that they would like as many as possible among the SA Jewry and Israelis living in SA to join them at this momentous event.

    ‘Detroit is very proud to have perhaps the only memorial monument to fallen Israeli soldiers outside of Israel.  It is located on the grounds of the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield, Michigan.’
