King David Linksfield pupils created their own Purim play
The talented cast gave the audience the “triple threat” treatment: dancing, singing and acting, all of the highest quality. The show also gave an interesting insight to the story of Purim.
Ava Cohen was the creative director; Tali Pantanowitz was the administrative director; Georgia Luntz, the scriptwriter; Abby Brozin, the musical director; Jodi Benjamin, the dance director; and Levi Marx, the stage manager. In addition, a large support crew assisted in such diverse behind-the-scenes aspects as set design, props, costumes, hair, make-up, sound and lighting. All in all, about 300 pupils were involved in putting the play together.
The play incorporated a fairytale element to the story for added interest, while sticking to the biblical narrative. To this end, music from various well-known productions, such as Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, was incorporated.
The Purim play is a way to connect with pupils from all grades and enables those keen on stage work to express themselves through theatre.
