Kosher chickens pass rigorous safety tests
Ami Bolnick
Our abattoir is independently audited for food safety. The latest assessment was completed on February23 this year and was found to adequately comply with the requirements of ISO 22002 prerequisite programmes on food safety, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles and food safety management systems, as guided by the Global Food Safety Initiative.
Our chickens are reared in free-roaming, open-sided houses with fresh air and sunlight. We do not use any growth hormones and our chickens are sampled monthly by an accredited independent microbiological laboratory for a wide range of microbiological tests, so as to ensure they comply with ISO 22002 food safety standards.
The kosher consumer can rest assured that the chicken they are eating is tested for among other things, being salmonella-free and having no antibiotic residues.
