Linksfield rugby on the up
King David Linksfield has had a successful rugby season, the highlights of which include the 1st XV being awarded a silver medal in the Pirates School Rugby League, having led for the whole game and conceding a try in the final minutes; the U14A team winning a silver medal in the Pirates School Rugby League; the 1st XV participating at the annual St Stithians Easter Rugby Festival for the first time; a 1st XV tour to Israel, where the team played against the Israeli U18 national team; a first ever fixture against the Maritzburg College U17A team in Pietermaritzburg; and the 1st XV narrowly losing only two games in the entire season (Northcliff in the final, and the Maritzburg College U17A).

Two pupils at the school, Dean Surmany and Joshua Pimstein, have been selected to represent the Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) at the upcoming annual interprovincial rugby tournament (IPT) in Alberton this year from 23 to 28 September.
Surmany, a Grade 8 pupil, is the current captain of the King David Linksfield U14 team, and has been selected as inside centre (number 12).
Pimstein, who plays openside flank (number 6) in the King David Linksfield 1st XV rugby team, is also deputy head boy and head of the Judaica committee for the upcoming year. He also captained the U14, U15, and U16 rugby teams when he played in those teams.
Both boys represented the Golden Lions at the interprovincial tournament in Durban last year, Surmany for the U13 team, which won gold; and Pimstein for the U16s, which won bronze.
Pimstein was also selected to represent the GLRU Academy XV U18 team, which participated at the Craven/Academy SA Rugby School Week in July this year at Grey College, Bloemfontein. Pimstein is in the Golden Lions U18 high performance training squad as well for 2020.
