Maccabi SA Cricket boosting Alexandra boys
Throughout 2016 the Maccabi SA Junior Cricket Committee has been driving a collection of cricket equipment for underprivileged communities in Alexandra township. The idea was to take advantage of the excess of cricket equipment that can be found in most sporting family homes and put it to good use. Upon discovering that The Cricket Company and Blue Label Telecoms had recently started a coaching initiative with the children in schools in Alexandra, this was to be the designated benefactor.

The Cricket Company held a coaching clinic in October where the equipment was distributed and enjoyed by some very excited young cricketers.
“We would like to extend a huge thank you to Maccabi cricket for their donation to the children of Alex township. We managed to give away 10 fully kitted bags to the 10 top players at the Alex cricket clinic,” said Matthew Nielson, head coach. “They were overjoyed and more than thrilled to receive such a wonderful prize for their performances on the cricket field during the week,”
The Maccabi SA Junior Cricket team and its committee will continue to work with communities and increase their outreach activities in 2017.
