Mbeki, Kluk, Chief to be at Oxford Shul tonight

Update notices have been issued today (Sunday) by the Office of the Chief Rabbi, The South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the South African Zionist Federation to advise on attendance at Oxford Shul this evening.
Former President Thabo Mbeki will join Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein and Board chair Mary Kluk at the Oxford Shul memorial service for Madiba at 6pm this evening.
It is recommended that those planning to attend bear in mind parking and security issues and arrive timeously.

UPDATE FROM THE CHIEF RABBI’S OFFICE: Former President Thabo Mbeki will join Chief Rabbi Goldstein and Mary Kluk at the Jewish Community Memorial and Prayer Service for Nelson Mandela today at 6PM at Oxford Synagogue 20 North Avenue Riveira, Johannesburg.

UPDATE FROM THE SAJBD: Former President Thabo Mbeki will address a Jewish community prayer service to be held in memory of the Late President Nelson Mandela. The Prayer service will take place this evening (Sunday 8 December 2013) at 18h00 at Oxford Synagogue, 20 North Avenue, Riviera.
Among those in attendance will be members of the Jewish community who were closely associated with Nelson Mandela during his career, including during the freedom struggle.

UPDATE FROM THE SAZF: This evening, the Jewish community of Johannesburg will be coming together at the Oxford Synagogue to mourn the passing of our beloved former President Nelson Mandela and to give thanks for his inspirational life. We are greatly honoured that former President Thabo Mbeki will be joining us for this solemn occasion. Mr Mbeki, who served as Deputy President under Nelson Mandela and worked closely with him throughout the period leading up to South Africa’s transition to democracy, will share his thoughts on Mandela and his legacy.
