Mix FM puts spotlight on Jewish rock stars
Some of music’s biggest Jewish rock stars, such as David Lee Roth of Van Halen, Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen were featured in a show on the Gauteng-based radio station Mix FM 93.8 this week Thursday (November 10) between 18:00 and 19:00.

The show, Shake, Rattle and Ron, is hosted by rock music aficionado Ron Keschner and forms part of the Stevie B Business Mix programme.
Keschner told Jewish Report before the show that the move “was to add variety to the business mix” and that he would be “digging up little-known musical gems to play and give the fascinating stories around them.
“In four short weeks, the show has achieved an incredible response from its rock-savvy audience,” says Keschner. “Business Mix is the only business show in the country that mixes business with music and secondly, the listeners are exposed to music that they haven’t heard before. The overall combination has proved irresistible to the station’s fan base,” said Keschner.
Stevie B, whose real name is Steven Bacher, and who is a member of the legendary cricketing family, and Keschner, have developed an instant on-air chemistry which is appealing to listeners from as far afield as Australia and the United States.
“We regularly receive messages and comments, making the hour an interactive smorgasbord of entertainment.”
Stevie B is a 15-year radio veteran who has worked for Talk Radio 702 and KayaFM. He moved to a smaller station in order to participate in its growth and to run Business Mix, the daily business slot on Mix FM.
Keschner, an alumni of Herzlia High School, is managing director of Channel Capital and an avowed rock music fanatic with a deep knowledge and love of the music industry.
Keschner told Jewish Report that there are a host of Jewish rock star, including Drake, Lenny Kravitz, Adam Levine, Mick Jones of The Clash, Marc Bolan of T Rex and Robbie Robertson of the Band.
Mix FM is a relative newcomer to Gauteng’s radio scene but already boasts more than 180 000 regular listeners. It is boosted by live streaming for listeners in Europe, the US and Australia. The station is also available on Radio Channel 93,8 and DStv Audio Ch
