Now ChaiFM nominated for the ‘big kahuna’

Last week’s news was of 11 MTN nominations. Now they’ve added ‘Community Station of the Year’

Chai Kathy tallJewish Talk Radio Station ChaiFM has received a twelfth nomination – just a week after the initial MTN Radio Award nominations were announced, ChaiFM was once again thrilled to hear that they had received yet another nomination.

The stations twelfth nomination is the biggest award for community stations – ‘Community Station of the Year.’

This prestigious award is divided into four categories: Campus, Commercial, Community and PBS.  

In the initial nomination stage, the station was nominated in 11 categories but this latest nomination came as a wonderful addition. The Station of the Year award is the biggest and most recognised category for the MTN Radio Awards. According to the organisers description of the award “it is the grand prix, the big kahuna, the mother of all prizes, the one staff will want to tell their mothers about.”

101.9 ChaiFM’s Station Manager, Greg Cohen, told SAJR Online said that “it’s so gratifying to know that the team’s hard work is being recognised in the industry.” And, says Greg, “as if 11 nominations weren’t enough – we are now in the running for ‘Community Station of the Year’! It’s an incredible achievement and I’m so proud of my team.”

ChaiFM is a Johannesburg-based Jewish Talk Radio Station that has been in existence for just over 5 years. The station is available to radio listeners in the Northern Johannesburg area on 101.9 FM as well as via audio-streaming at www.chaifm.com where there is a ChaiFM Mobile App.
