One Day After Peace – the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict inflicts a terrible toll on parents

Published

on

Parents who have lost children in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict talk forgiveness and reconciliation.

Robi Damelin made aliyah from South Africa in 1967. A Palestinian sniper’s bullet took the life of her son David in 2002. At the age of 17, Bassam Aramin of Hebron was caught planning an attack on Israeli troops, and spent the next seven years in prison.

In 2010, his 10-year-old daughter, Abir, was shot dead by Israeli border police outside her school. Rather than seek revenge, Robi and Bassam have sought forgiveness. Robi has asked to meet her son’s killer, and Bassam has built a garden with 100 Israeli soldiers in remembrance of his daughter.

Join us on Saturday evening as we talk to those whose spirit of forgiveness can plant the seeds for peace.
