ORT partnership teaches business skills to disabled
OWN CORRESPONDENT
The programme aims to encourage participants to start small businesses. The participants attend twice weekly sessions, and are busy completing the communication module. Five “helpers” assist with writing, and supervise group work activities. The objective is to prepare a business plan for each idea. So far, these include a coffee shop, a transport business, and a skills-development academy.
ORT SA trainer Sarah Malape says, “This learnership is completely life changing for the participants. You cannot put a price on empowering previously disadvantaged individuals to learn and look at their world differently. Thank you Hudaco and ORT SA for making this opportunity available to us.”
