Our Jessie still full of joie de vivre at 105

At her advanced age she still reads without glasses, has perfect hearing and speaks English and Afrikaans fluently, Golden Acres said in a media release.

She has 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and remembers all of them, although they are scattered all over the world.

Jessie moved to Johannesburg when she married her first husband Abe Mosselson, the father of her children. Very tragically Abe was killed when a drunk driver hit his car on Louis Botha Avenue in the city many years ago. Jessie’s second husband was Mick Rosen who died some years ago.

She loves her beautiful home on the second floor of A block in Golden Acres and has lived there since October 2000. She says she is so happy there and if she wants company she just leaves her door open and residents pop in, but if she is tired, she closes her door and has total privacy.

Jessie celebrated her 105^th birthday at Golden Acres among family, friends and carers.
