Jewish Report understands that not even the shul’s committee knew about Rabbi Rose’s intentions beforehand. He had only told the the chairman of the committee the day before.

Rabbi Rose also serves as the chairman of the SA Rabbinical Association.

Jewish Report has been unable to contact Rabbi Rose today and will publish further information as it becomes available.

Waverley Shul has one of Johannesburg’s largest congregations.

‘Thanks for everything you contributed to my parents over the years.

You are a Mensh, and will always be appreciated for what you did, not because you had to, but because you chose to.’
