SA Jewry conduct memorial services for Mandela
Memorial services for Madiba will be held at a single Shul in each SA city – with Bloemfontein, Durban, East London, Johannesburg, and Port Elizabeth holding services at 6pm on Sunday 8 December; and Cape Town and Pretoria on Monday 9 December.

The office of the Chief Rabbi has issued an itinerary of memorial services to be held over the next few days in honour of ex-President Nelson Mandela by the South African Jewish community at Shuls across the country.
South African communities have come together to hold a single, communal memorial service in each centre.
Sunday 8 December
Bloemfontein: The United Hebrew Institutions of Bloemfontein will hold a service at 1 Dickie Clark Street, Waverley at 6pm.
Durban: The city will hold their communal memorial service at the Durban Great Shul, 75 Silverton Road on Sunday night at 6pm.
East London: The East London Hebrew Congregation will hold a memorial service at 32 Lukin Road, Selborne at 6pm.
Johannesburg: The city’s combined memorial service will be held at the Oxford Shul, 20 North Avenue, Riveira at 6pm.
Port Elizabeth: The Port Elizabeth Hebrew Congregation service will be held at the Abraham Levy Centre, Barris Walk, Glendenningvale at 6pm.
Monday 9 December
Cape Town: The combined service will be held at the Gardens Shul, 88 Hatfield Street, Gardens – on Monday night at 6pm.
Pretoria: The Pretoria Hebrew Congregation, 246 Schroder Street, Groenkloof, will also hold their service on Monday night at 6pm.
