SA teachers join their Israeli counterparts for ‘twinning’ seminar
Teachers from King David Linksfield Primary School, King David Victory Park Primary School, King David Sandton and Torah Academy Nursery School joined their “twinning” schools for the seminar.
The goals of the seminar included deepening the connection of South African and Israeli teachers, creating a common language between them, determining joint goals and building an annual programme for the upcoming year.
South African educators were given the opportunity to experience and explore the diversity of the country.
They visited the Hall of Independence in Tel Aviv as well as south Tel Aviv, where refugees and asylum seekers are trying to find their place in Israeli society. They went to Beta Israel Village, an Ethiopian agricultural village in Kiryat Gat, and took a day trip to Jerusalem, which included a visit to Ipcha, an educational initiative where different approaches to education in the 21st century are being explored.
They also taught at the Israeli “twin” schools to get a deeper understanding and create a common story to enhance their journey together.
