Short notice affects SACRED’s Kol Isha submission

The South African Centre for Religious Equality and Diversity (SACRED) and the other applicants in the (Kol Isha) case against (the Cape Council of the) South African Jewish Board of Deputies would like to thank the SAJBD for their invitation to submit a statement to their colloquium.

Unfortunately, the invitation was only received by SACRED, via intermediaries, last week Thursday (June 16) with a deadline for submission the next day. Thus our submission was not as detailed or as thorough as we would have liked.

The other applicants in the case were, alas, unable to attend on such short notice. Nevertheless, as consistent advocates for dialogue and an internal resolution to this matter, we welcome the SAJBD’s long overdue opening up of dialogue on this matter.

Executive Director, SACRED

On behalf of the applicants
