Sound of marimbas in a glorious celebration

On Tuesday night, Sydenham Shul and Education Africa presented “Sounds of Celebration III” at Emperors Palace, a musical production featuring 180 young performers from all South African backgrounds.

They included King David Linksfield Primary School Marimba Band, Yeshiva College, Yachad Boys Choir, St Dominic’s Steel Band, the CMCM Pennywhistle Ensemble and many more.

The performers were joined on stage by popular Jewish singer Choni G of the Gardens Shul in Cape Town and special guest artist, South African music icon, Pops Mohamed.

“Sounds of Celebration” is a project of Education Africa that aims to uplift and unify young South Africans through establishing “marimba hubs” in schools and community centres.
