Tell the truth – the entire truth – Lithuania
Ambassador Jakštonytė of Lithuania writes powerfully about Lithuanian love for Jews in her article “Never again, says Lithuanian ambassador” in the SA Jewish Report (28 February 2020). Unfortunately, her statement is replete with distortions and half-truths, but significantly, carries one truthful statement.

Lithuania honours Holocaust perpetrators as their national heroes. This is incompatible with loving Jews. It makes a mockery of any statements of regret about the Holocaust.
Lithuania has an entire government department devoted to Holocaust revisionism. This is the very definition of anti-Semitism.
Lithuania should take down its monuments to murderers, revoke its national honours for Holocaust perpetrators, and tell the truth about the Lithuanians that proposed the Holocaust in Lithuania and carried it out.
Lithuania’s constant attempt to deceive is insulting. Telling the truth would be seen as a genuine act of reconciliation. The constant deception shows how insincere it really is. It’s unfortunate that every word from Lithuanian officials has to be examined for fact versus fiction.
