UJW Joburg is making a difference
Executive director Cindy Kree listed the successful ongoing projects of the UJW which include Kosher Mobile Meals, the Granny Headed Households Feeding Scheme, Alexandra Aftercare, the Sewing School, as well as the House and Garden Circle and Adult Education Programme.
Kree thanked the volunteers and donors who have enabled the UJW to succeed in all its projects and functions. The union’s Volunteer of the Year award went to Mary Schneider, who has volunteered at Kosher Mobile Meals for 12 years.
Guest speaker Jamie Mithi of SA Friends of Israel, addressed the audience on the importance of educating communities about Israel through dialogue.
Wendy Kahn, representing the SA Jewish Board of Deputies, and WIZO’s Janice Liebowitz, representing Jewish women’s organisations, attended.
