Website soared in holidays. Newsletter test

This is a test of placing the Jewish Report Online newsletter on the website. The weekly JR newsletter is sent out to a twenty-thousand-plus database. This edition was sent in the week ending January 9 and only some of the pictures are included in this test post. It was, as always, a busy period for our website as there was a four week hiatus of print publishing. The website published 24/6 to keep readers up to date, posting 76 stories and sending out three newsletters in the three weeks.

The number of visits to the Jewish Report website in December 2015 was up a huge 38 per cent up on December 2014 and a whopping 99 per cent up on December 2013!

Looking at the narrowest view of the holiday period, from mid-December to the first week of January, user-visits were on a par with the website’s ongoing growth, which is good news for a news website. However, the time-on-site and pages-per-visit statistics were way up – suggesting users read the website in more depth and breadth than they normally do.

Last week’s newsletter is reproduced below, albeit not in its normal format with all the original pictures – purely as a test.

Anyone wishing to receive the weekly newsletter, which has links to a lot of web-only items or print articles that are enhanced with additional text, pictures and information, need only go on to any page on www.sajr.co.za – see a green panel similar to the one illustrated at right, type in your e-mail address, and Hymie’s your Uncle!

The weekly newsletter includes an e-Paper version of the print paper, if there was one published that week.

The e-mailer subject line for last week’s newsletter was:
Breslov Rabbi Berland now SA citizen

The headline on the newsletter was:
Kosher marijuana legally available in New York
