Sunday (October 25)

We regret the error.] The Tony Yoko Quartet Concert in aid of Hatzollah takes place at 15:00 at Inyoni Retirement Village, 200 Modderfontein Road, Lyndhurst. The band consists of Tony Yoko on drums, Andre Bence on keyboard, Nippy Cripwell on double bass and Pam Mortimer on sax and vocals. *SAZF is holding a Jewish film festival. (The festival which started on October 4 continues until November 17). Cost: R50 per ticket. Today’s movie: “Nicky ´s Family” about Sir Nicholas Winton’s rescue of 669 Czechoslovakian children from the threat of the Nazis. Venue: Beyachad. Time: 15:30. Booking essential. * WIZO Etgar branch hosts a visit to three of Johannesburg’s renowned landscaped gardens in the Bryanston area. Viewing of first garden is at 09:45. * Johannesburg Jewish Activities Club hosts “Jewzi Canoe and Braai” at Emmarentia Dam. Time: 11:00. Cost: R100 pp. A day of fun on the water with an expert canoe coach followed by a braai. * IUA & UCF present the Johannesburg Jewish Male Choir’s “30th Anniversary in Song” with guest artist Steven Leas, head cantor, Great Portland Street Synagogue, London. He will be accompanied by a musical ensemble under the baton of musical director Evelyn Green.
