Wits SRC president in a vicious anti-Jewish rant

The newly-elected president of the Wits Student Representative Council, Mcebo Freedom Dlamini, has asserted that Jews control the university through their wealth and that Jewish students receive preferential treatment.

According to a report in Beeld newspaper Dlamini made these allegations in the course of giving evidence at the SA Human Rights Commission public hearings on university transformation.

Regarding the supposed favouring of Jews over other students, he claimed that this was common knowledge within the student body and was a reality that could no longer be ignored. To bolster his assertion, he drew attention to a recent anonymous donation of R100 million to the university, which he intimated was probably from “the Jews”. Dlamini further claimed that in general, Wits disregarded the needs of poorer students in favour of those from wealthier backgrounds.

Earlier this year, Dlamini was exposed by the Wits Vuvuzela campus newspaper for having fraudulently posed as the grandson of anti-apartheid legend Walter Sisulu. Prior to this, he had claimed to be the love-child of one of Sisulu’s sons and a Swazi princess. Despite this controversy, he was elected as SRC president at the newly-elected council’s inaugural meeting in September.

Apparently Dlamini has after seven years, very little to show academically.

The SAJBD, in its letter to Wits Vice-Chancellor Adam Habib, described Dlamini’s allegation as being inflammatory and discriminatory, as well as completely baseless. It was pointed out that accusing Jews of unfairly benefit at the expense of non-Jews because of their supposed financial power was one of the classic anti-Semitic canards, and this was essentially what Dlamini was asserting.

Habib was asked to investigate the matter and advise in due course what steps the university intended to take.

Professor Andrew Crouch, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic, categorically denied that the university discriminated against students on the basis of whether they were wealthy or not. He confirmed that Wits had indeed received a large, anonymous donation, but refused to reveal the donor’s name or religion.

‘The real question to be asked of Dlamini is \”did you got a matric?\” I mean 7 years at Varsity, the guy should already be a brain surgeon. But no!! He’s a liar. Having claimed inter alia that he is the grandson of Walter Sisulu. But wait a minute! He has a chance maybe to go to Hollywood as \”Walter Mitty\”. On the other hand, maybe his future lies at Pikitup . Whatever, it just shows that you don’t need edukayshun to be president of Wits SRC.

A debate with Dlamini also would be out of the kwestshun.

Wow! what an idiot. And some get to live.

‘It is time that Jewish Trusts and organisations stop funding bursaries to Wits students. It appears that the student leadership there have no understanding of the role Jews have played in the building and stature of their university.  Wits is fast losing its international status AND ESPECIALLY  with the bigotry and vitriol that is spouted from that campus.’

‘it seems seven years in the same course( presumably)with no graduation, is not long enough to produce a future ANC politician, or possibly a Malema disciple.
